litha foundation

The Litha Foundation is a social responsibility arm of Litha Communications. Our social vision is to inspire children to have positive futures in a healthy environment. We want to banish and uproot societal indifference and individual callousness so that every child in South Africa has an equal opportunity to be loved and cherished - to play in the streets and fields without fear or hunger. To realise this vision, we have chosen three areas of national importance and matched them with our unbounded passion and what we stand for.

1. orphaned and vulnerable children:

The moral test of any society is judged on how it treats its most vulnerable members. With support and care, orphaned and vulnerable children are not different from other children, in most cases, they are even better. For work we do in this area, we are proud to be associated with Heartbeat: http://www.heartbeat.org.za

2. financial education and dignity

We hold a strong belief that the progress we have made as a country depends on how we stem the scourge of poverty and the desperation it creates. As entrepreneurs, we share this passion by contributing our time and talent to support the work of Operation Hope, an international nongovernmental organisation that is offering marginalised communities, especially the youth a lifeline of financial literacy skill sets, access to mainstream banking accounts, entrepreneurship education, dignity and ultimately, a promising future of empowerment and self reliance. Together with them, we share a vision to nurture habits that will help people make bigger decisions with the money they already have. We want to help with the transition from “civil rights” to “silver rights”. http://www.operationhope.org

 3. the environment and conservation

We seek to offset the carbon footprint of our operations and take care to conduct our projects in an environmentally responsible way. We offer our clients an opportunity to do the same by contributing a tree for every delegate that attends our events. For this purpose, our nongovernmental partner of choice is the Wildlands Conservation Trust. The Trust is working to conserve our regions bio-diversity through the development and facilitation of innovative solutions which take into account the unique biodiversity assets of South Africa while sustainably meeting the socio-economic needs of current and future generations. Most importantly, we want to see marginalised youth use new skills in new green industries that protect and preserve our heritage and the planet for future generations to come. http://www.wildlands.co.za

We also contribute our time, talent and materials to Waste2Wow, a job creation design and manufacturing studio that recycles advertising banners and billboards, turning trash into creative and desirable eco-friendly wow items. http://www.waste2wow.co.za

We believe that enriching society and preserving our planet for future generations is not an option or a nice thing to do  - it is a matter of necessity.
